In the sixth episode of the second season of Tokyo Revengers, on the day of the anticipated battle, Takemichi goes to stop Hakkai from killing Taiju, not knowing that the people he chose to trust would betray him. The episode is now streaming on Hulu.
Recap
While Hakkai leaves the house with the resolve to kill his brother, Taiju sets out to pray alone, leaving Inupi and Koko in charge. Koko declares that he is sticking with Inupi, but when Inupi asks him if he is keeping his promise, Koko replies that he forgot all about it.
Chifuyu thinks about the time when he beat up some of the gang members because they called him a sycophant. Baji then gave him the same treatment until he passed out. Chifuyu admitted to Baji that he only respects him, so Baji told him to follow him.
Chifuyu approaches Takemichi and bows down to him. He confesses that he lived his life hating and hurting others until Baji changed that.
Baji was a man who always stuck to his ideals, and Chifuyu entrusts Takemichi with his sash. Takemichi accepts the sash and promises to live according to his ideals.
At the chapel, Takemichi goes inside to talk to Hakkai, while Chifuyu, Kisaki, and Hanma wait outside for Taiju. Hakkai warns Takemichi that he will kill him too if he tries to stop him from killing Taiju. He also tells him about the kind of abuse that he has to face at home.
However, that does not deter Takemichi, who tells Hakkai that he cannot protect Yuzuha by committing murder because Yuzuha would grieve if he kills Taiju. He also tells Hakkai that he broke up with Hinata to protect her and that even though he is weak and a coward, he will never kill anyone.
Taiju’s arrival interrupts their conversation, and Takemichi realizes that Kisaki and Hanma have betrayed him. They beat Chifuyu and tied him up, preventing him from helping Takemichi. Kisaki tells Hanma that he betrayed Takemichi for his own entertainment.
Hakkai attacks Taiju, but Taiju easily overpowers him. He advises Hakkai that if he truly wants to kill him, he should stab him in the back quietly. When Takemichi intervenes, Taiju starts punching him.
Taiju also threatens to reveal Hakkai’s secret. According to him, Hakkai is not the person Takemichi thinks he is. In the middle of this, Yuzuha, who was informed about this by Kisaki, comes to save Hakkai and stabs Taiju in the back.
As Taiju starts hitting her, Takemichi comes to the conclusion that since Kisaki sent Yuzuha, in the original timeline, she must have killed Taiju, not Hakkai. Takemichi has not done anything to change the future.
Taiju tells Yuzuha that the stab wound is not fatal because Takemichi’s scream allowed him to move at the last minute, which makes Takemichi think that he perhaps changed the future.
Yuzuha accuses Taiju of manipulating them in the name of family when he never really cared about them. Taiju hits her again and laments the fact that he will have to kill his younger sister.
Review
- A major part of the episode deals with the conflict between the Shiba siblings, but it still keeps the viewers on the edge of their seats, as there is a lot that happens.
- This episode hinted at a few things without revealing much; there is Inupi and Koko’s promise and a secret that Hakkai is desperately trying to protect, but whether that secret will impact the future or not will be revealed in the upcoming episodes.
- It is still not clear if Takemichi was able to change the future or not. When Kisaki’s involvement was revealed, Takemichi’s goal also became unclear. For now, he thinks that he changed the future, but the viewers can tell that it is not going to be that simple.
