Demon Slayer season 3 episode 4 recap & review: Thank You, Tokito

In Demon Slayer season 3 episode 4, Tanjiro, Nezuko, and Genya persevere while contending with the overwhelming might of Hantengu’s avatars.

Recap

Kotetsu is in trouble and one of Gyokko’s blood demon art creations is almost about to eat him, when Tokito makes a detour and saves the little swordsmith, whereas he was previously going to ignore him to follow priority in terms of the rescue.

When he slashes away the demon and begins walking off, Kotetsu begs him to save Haganezuka, who’s still working on the sword and won’t be able to stop, which makes him quite vulnerable right now. Tokito remembers his master’s words and also Tanjiro’s, and agrees, taking off for the swordsmith’s location while carrying Kotetsu on his shoulder.

The flight-capable clone of Hantengu poses great difficulty to Tanjiro, who eventually figures out that their division into more clones has a limit. He soon figures out a way to reach Nezuko and Genya and aid them in their battles, which is to use this clone named Urogi’s momentum and flight to hitch a ride.

Meanwhile, the clone named Aizetsu is puzzled to see his spear getting stuck while inside Genya, who starts praying. Clone Sekido gets ticked off with Aizetsu’s carelessness and demands he severs Genya’s head. However, Genya not only stands up again but starts attacking too, decapitating Aizetsu’s head and landing a hit on Sekido, before he’s blitzed away.

Meanwhile, Karaku rejoices in taking Nezuko as hostage, grabbing her tightly and asking Sekido to later electrocute her so she can’t move, as he plunges his leg through her torso. However, Nezuko fights back and nearly detaches his head, before setting him on fire using her blood demon art.

However, Sekido pins her down and incapacita kites her with his electric shock, when Tanjiro arrives and quickly frees her using Urogi’s’ claw, since Sekido’s electric shock attack can’t be effective on his own cells. As he praises Tanjiro for his quick wit, Genya fights off Aizetsu.

Karaku arrives and blows Tanjiro and Nezuko downward with his wind attack, making them fall down inside the building and on top of the rubble. Demon Slayer season 3 episode 4 rolls the credits as Mitsuri runs towards the village, ready to take on demons and helping as many as she can.

Review

  • Demon Slayer season 3 episode 4 has some great fight mechanics and the way Tanjiro deduces everything during fights is always a delight to see.
  • The villains Tanjiro faces are all interesting, although the location of the real Hantengu remains a mystery.
  • Genya appears to be an unkillable machine who has much more up his sleeve than he lets on. Such absurd is his perseverance and ability to continue fighting that even Aizetsu asks what he is.
  • It’s great to see Nezuko treat the smug villain with some of her diabolically fierce moves and her demon blood art.
