In Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 episode 18, Nanami slashes away at transfigured humans with the last of his life force, before Yuji battles Mahito in a fit of rage.
Recap
Mahito kills a horde of transfigured humans in a daze with the last ounces of his energy. He thinks of Malaysia, of the perfect life he had yet to live, as Mahito sneaks up on him and places his hand to kill him.
Yuji arrives right at that time as Nanami turns his head to say that he’s leaving the rest to him. Mahito activates his idle transfiguration and kills Nanami. Traumatized and enraged, Yuji attacks Mahito.
The two engage in fierce battle as Mahito feels confident because his double (that he had previously created to quickly find Yuji) has been battling Nobara, and Mahito’s plan to further shatter Yuji is by showing him her corpse.
Review
- Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 episode 18 is yet another classic heartbreak of an installment, as Nanami’s death comes with an added gut punch when his Malaysian dream sequence kicks in.
- Yuji’s battle with Mahito is only going to get more tense and dark as Nobara’s grim fate awaits him like a predator waiting to deliver the fatal blow to its prey.
- What’s in store next is a Yuji who is not going to be himself, at least for the foreseeable future.
