In Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 episode 20, Todo joins a shell-shocked Yuji in the battle against Mahito.
Yuji stands aghast, mumbling in disbelief as a pulse-less Kugisaki lies in front of him. Memories of a warmer time with her and Fushiguro flood in.
Mahito takes the opportunity to pound on Yuji, who can’t do anything other than be a ragdoll. Mahito rambles in glee about the similarity he and Yuji share.
His effort to feel more of his soul reaps benefits as he produces a Black Flash, but can’t impart it upon Yuji as Todo arrives and swaps his sworn brother with his technique.
He inspires Yuji to stand up again and keep fighting. He deals with Mahito then, and evades him with his skill, which Mahito is impressed by as well.
Meanwhile, Nitta uses his technique on Nobara and tells Yuji after giving him first aid that she has a non-zero chance of survival, and that that shouldn’t get his hopes up too much.
Yuji joins Todo and the two push back against Mahito. Todo steps up and uses a Black Flash himself. However, Mahito stands tall still, and gets serious.
All three fighters reach 120% of their potential before Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 episode 20 rolls the credits.
- Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 episode 20 is a feast in that Todo returns and it’s always a feast when he’s on screen.
- Mahito using the Black Flash ups the ante more but all eyes must now be locked in on Yuji, who ought to do something big now that all clichéd sacrifices have been made to give way for his motivated power-up.
- Kugisaki not being entirely dead is just silly and feels so stereotypically bad in how she’s just sidelined but also kept alive to be a supporting character and possibly provide more motivation to the boys later on in the story.
