King the Land season 1 episode 6 recap & review

In King the Land season 1 episode 6, Gu Won takes a helicopter to go rescue Sa-Rang.

Recap

Gu Won decides to take a helicopter for Sa-Rang’s rescue and interrupts a meeting to ask Hwa-Ran for it, who simply refuses to entertain such a request for a mere employee, even when Gu Won bows to her as he requests.

He then decides to take the personal helicopter for a spin and jumps out of the edge directly to where Sa-Rang is sitting and weeping. He jumps without any plan, though, and before the rescue can arrive the next morning, the farmer Sa-Rang had gone there to meet comes and saves the two.

The two adorable dorks bond and banter before Sa-Rang convinces the farmer to consider King Hotel for ginseng in the figure, which she does by showing him the rare wild ginseng that she dug out. The farmer asks Gu Won to not send the employees as it’s dangerous for them, and Won already understands it.

Gu Won drives Sa-Rang to her grandmother’s and while she gets working, he is mistaken by the granny to be Sa-Rang’s colleague. She then makes him peel onions and he does a horrendous job at it. He then goes to buy tofu with Sa-Rang and the two have more quality time together.

They play a game and Gu Won tries a local sweet delicacy he becomes a fan of immediately. The sparks also fly between them in the midst of all the chemistry. Before bidding farewell, Gu Won earns a small wage for the day from the granny, who recognizes how polite and mannered he is.

Dropping her home, Gu Won asks Sa-Rang for a date, and she can’t stop blushing. Later, he goes home and shares the food that Sa-Rang’s granny packed him with his father. The next day, the young daughter of the Royal group throws a lavish party at the lounge. Gu Won meets her and gives her a gift.

An interaction where only Yu-Ri is all handsy and hyper-enthused comes across to Sa-Rang as something more mutual with some history attached to it as well. She gets upset thinking Gu Won is already in a relationship with Yu-Ri and still asked her out on a date.

At home, she shares her annoyance with Da-Eul and Pyeonh-Hwa, who also share similar experiences. To overcome the moping atmosphere, they get on partying and order a lot of fast food.

One of these deliveries that Sa-Rang goes to answer the door for turns out to be Gu Won, as King the Land episode 6 rolls the credits.

Review

  • Gu Won and Sa-Rang’s dynamic is unlimited in its innocent, unadulterated, and overtly giddy energy. It’s heartwarming to just see the two interact and go about their silly ways of bantering.
  • Gu Won’s humane approach to running the hotel is already being defined and it’ll be interesting to see if he truly makes something big out of this and possibly lead to a wide change in the functioning of the business.
  • King the Land episode 6 probably features the central leads spending the most amount of screen time together thus far in the show, and it’s definitely a no-complaint proffering.
