Recap
6 months earlier, Nathan Bratt was going through a rough point in his life as he had lost his job as a teacher, wasn’t able to pay rent, and lost his dog Fifi to a car accident.
That’s when he got the news that he was inheriting Ephraim Bratt’s estate which led to him getting possessed and going through a truly tough time. Following the ordeal, he gets back home and remarks that the story would make for a good book.
He decides to write out the entire thing while changing up the names and some details to maintain anonymity while making his character the main protagonist.
He explains how Isaiah is recovering from his injury but has different priorities now, that Isabella and James have become close friends, and Isabella and still pining over Isaiah. Margot and Lucas are going steady, but when Sarah asks her to move to Seattle with her, Margot faces a tough decision.
Colin and Sarah have ended their marriage and Colin proposes to Nora. Nathan sends out his manuscript and the next time Ben is at his house hanging up a stuffed Fifi, Nathan mentions that he might have written a book about the whole thing.
All the kids are headed out on a road trip to Seattle but Lucas isn’t too sure about leaving. Nora calms him down and tells him that it is okay if he goes.
Nathan gets a call from a publisher in New York who says that they enjoy his story but would like him to write a different ending that goes deeper into Slappy’s origin.
Nora gathers everyone to talk about what they went through and hopefully reconnect so that they can be the good friends they were in high school. Nathan is struggling for ideas and goes out for a drive to get inspiration.
Lucas isn’t very happy in Seattle and is worried that Margot is going to leave him and go. While they’re at a house party, Lucas and Margot have an argument and Lucas leaves.
Nathan finds himself near Mount Seymore and decides to seek out Slappy because he’s desperate. He takes the dummy back home and brings it back to life. Slappy knows what he wants, and tells him that he will get it.
He brings Fifi back to life, and the dog leads Nathan to the coffin of Kanduu. Nathan opens the coffin and reads the incantation inside, which transfers the soul from Slappy into the corpse.
Lucas leaves a note for Margot at home telling her that he’s headed back home because he’s having a tough time moving on from what they have been through.
Ben rushes to Nathan’s house to talk about the book but he comes face-to-face with Kanduu, who turns Ben into a doll and walks out into the world to cause destruction.
Review
- Having an epilogue for this season is a nice touch that maintains a level of suspense and intrigue. The creators have crafted the story well enough that it makes sense too.
- This episode mostly focuses on Nathan and Justin Long has been wonderful in the role. Despite everything that he’s been through, he is drawn back to Slappy and this episode explains why.
- The ending of the episode is quite dark and the creators have come up with a clever way to kill people off in a “PG” manner and that helps the series.
