In Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 episode 16, Fushiguro’s fight with Toji continues as Jogo tries to inflict a scratch on Sukuna.
Recap
Tojj overwhelms Megumi, but the latter is a crafty and brilliant fighter with quick decision-making. His skills enable him to almost land a fatal hit on Toji.
A pause amid their fight sees Toji reminiscing about the day he sold his son to the Zen’ins. He asks Megumi for his name and he responds with Fushiguro, making Toji satisfied with the way he turned out.
He promptly stabs himself in the head and returns to the great beyond. Fushiguro then heads towards Shoko but is attacked from behind by Haruta.
Meanwhile, Jogo takes on Sukuna and despite his city-demolishing attacks, he can’t so much as lay a finger on Sukuna, who ultimately burns Jogo to a crisp with his fire powers.
Jogo reunites with Hanami and Dagon in the white void where Sukuna congratulates him for being a good opponent. Sukuna is shortly greeted by Uraume, a curse user from his past.
As Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 episode 16 comes to an end, Haruta and an unconscious Megumi are being attacked by a strange creature.
Review
- Jujutsu Kaisen hints at a major shift in the hierarchy of power, at least for the time being, as Gojo remains sealed and no one seems able to so much as touch Sukuna.
- Megumi puts up such an impressive fight against Toji, but the subsequent stab in the back feels so disappointing. Haruta be cursed!
- It also feels melancholic and sweet how Toji parts ways with his son once again, and spends not even a blink’s worth of time stabbing himself after confirming his son is going to be alright.
- Who’s the new terrifying creature at the end is the important question the next episode will have all the answers for, and it’s exciting, to say the least, to speculate what happens hereafter in Shibuya.
