In Doctor Cha episode 7, Jeong-Suk takes over the responsibility of overseeing I-Rang’s fees and works hard to fulfill it.
Doctor Roy Kim wants to confess something really important to Jeong-Suk but her mother-in-law arrives and he has to leave. At the home, In-Ho lashes out at her for hiding their daughter’s decision to change her career choices, following which he throws all of I-Rang’s art supplies in the trash.
Jeong-Suk confronts him and gets an ultimatum — either stop working at the hospital or see her daughter’s dream fall apart. She takes over the responsibility of her expenses and announces she’ll keep working at the hospital too.
She also asks In-Ho about the suspicions that Seung-Hi’s bracelet and her daughter raise, but In-Ho keeps the composure while trying to feign ignorance and obliviousness. The next day, Jeong-Suk asks Seung-Hi about her bracelet, and she says her husband bought it for her, which puts Jeong-Suk’s mind at ease.
Meanwhile, she discovers that Dr. Jeon’s boyfriend is none other than her own son. She tries to get both of them to confirm her discovery but they keep making excuses to reveal who they’re dating, if at all. Jeong-Suk is concerned for her son as well as the prospect of having Dr. Jeon be her daughter-in-law.
Meanwhile, a patient of In-Ho has depression because of the major colorectal surgery he has to undergo. Jeong-Suk does her best to put his mind at ease. After the surgery, his depression becomes severe when his girlfriend’s parents urge him to leave their daughter.
Leaving a suicide note on the bed, he plans on jumping off the roof. Jeong-Suk finds the note and immediately calls emergency services, while rushing to the terrace to persuade the patient off of committing suicide. When Roy Kim and In-Ho learn of it, both hurry to the terrace as well.
The patient jumps off and Jeong-Suk ends up falling off too, trying to save him, but thankfully they end up atop the inflatable rescue cushion. In-Ho rushes off to Jeong-Suk, terrified and concerned, while Roy Kim arrives and hugs her, taking a sigh of relief and inspiring gasps of disbelief in eveyone present there.
- Doctor Cha episode 7 is a hilarious instalment that manages to deliver jokes that really land well.
- The ending shots of the episode crank up the pace and set the stage for a possible love triangle, but in the face of the secret affair between In-Ho and Seung-Hi getting revealed, there’s not really all that much going on for the love triangle.
- It’s great to see Jeong-Suk and I-Rang’s relationship improve after several setbacks and hitches, but even if I-Rang is a bit warmer to her mother this time around, one has to want more of an effort at understanding and empathy from her.
- Jeong-Suk’s terrors at the discovery of her son’s relationship with Doctor Jeon is adorable but also really great in terms of what it promises for the future of Doctor Cha.
