In Strong Girl Nam-Soon episode 9, Nam-Soon pulls off a daring heist and Geum-Ju gets on Ryu Si-O’s nerves, which forces Si-O to make a move and plot his revenge.

Recap

Nam-Soon steals Si-O’s whole computer but Hee-Sik and the team find nothing on it. Si-O gets suspicious of Nam-Soon so he visits Myung-Hee to ask if Nam-soon is indeed Geum-Ju’s daughter.

Earlier, Geum-Ju met with Myung-Hee and told her she’ll accept her as a daughter if she atones for her wrongs. So when Si-O asks her about Nam-Soon’s identity, she lies to him, saying it’s not Tsetseg.

Geum-Ju and Hee-Sik have a meeting with Si-O at the hotel and Geum-Ju brings up Pavel, the Russian mafia group behind Doogo, to get on Si-O’s nerves, and she manages to do so.

Nam-Soon, who’s present there as Hillary, stops her from saying anything more that would warrant an immediate attack from Si-O, and Geum-Ju shortly leaves. Si-O later confirms that he wants to kill Geum-Ju.

He later hires someone to kill Geum-Ju, who is photographing her mother at the Police Brave Citizen Award. Joong-Gan confronts Geum-Ju about her father returning to Korea, and Geum-Ju admits he is doing so the next day.

Joong-Gan goes to pick him up from the airport, where she attacks him in anger, for leaving them all for so long and now returning to be her husband again as if nothing happened.

Nam-In gets more hooked on the diet pills that the stranger had given him and begins chugging water like an addict. By the time Strong Girl Nam-Soon episode 9 rolls the credits, he’s knocked out on the floor as his father rushes to check up on him.

Review

Strong Girl Nam-Soon episode 9 is a great installment where powers finally collide but in a more heady way. The meeting with Geum-Ju and Ryu Si-O is genuinely tense and the stakes that she is unaware of feel very real.
For the first time perhaps, Nam-Soon displays maturity as she understands that she and her mother might be out of their depth.
Joong-Gan and Jun-Hee’s relationship seemed so genuinely hearty, innocent, and pure in this episode, and it will be interesting what becomes of the new love triangle now that her husband has returned.
