In Succession season 4 episode 7, Roman and Kendall try to cook up a method to tank the deal at Logan’s pre-election day party.
Recap
The Roys host the pre-election party, which is a tradition in their family. It’s held at Tom and Shiv’s apartment and all the political insiders are there. However, there’s also one person that Kendall and Roman least expected to arrive — Matsson.
He’s there because Kendall and Roman want to tank the GoJo deal but Shiv doesn’t want to, which is why she calls Matsson, and he shows up, surprising the co-CEOs in the most unpleasant way.
Kendall and Roman initially plan on taking down the deal by creating an anti-trust case but they later find out that Matsson has grossly inflated the GoJo subscriber count in India. This poses a high risk and also a great opportunity to have the deal tanked.
Meanwhile, Connor’s presidential run adversely impacts Mencken so it befalls Roman to encourage his brother to drop out of the race, which he fails at. Tom and Shiv finally confront each other in a big way about their marriage.
Roman also tries to convince Gerri to come back to Waystar but she refuses to do so and in the process, gives him an earful. Succession season 4 episode 7 ends with Kendall talking to Frank about buying GoJo and becoming the sole CEO.
Review
- Succession season 4 episode 7 is a treat to watch as Roman gets to taste the ground after soaring a bit too high in the previous episode. It’s also great to watch Gerri dish it out so well and unload on Roman.
- Kendall seems to be headed for the usual deep and painful crash as he tries to hit it big and selfishly at the end of the episode.
- The biggest highlight of the episode comes during the clash between Tom and Shiv, who both unleash their bleeding hearts’ sorry contents all over each other, and the performances by these two actors are simply brilliant.
